Jean-Francois Balmer was born in Valangin, Switzerland on April 18, 1946. He studied at the Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique de Paris from 1970-1973 and graduated from l'Ecole supérieure de commerce de Neuchâtel.
He’s worked extensively in French cinema as a director and actior in television and stage productions since the early 1970s. He’s best known for “La menace” (1977), “Madame Bovery” (1991) and “In the House” (2012).
His only Euro-western appearance was as the governor in 2009’s “Lucky Luke” directed by James Huth and starring Jean Dujardin in the title role.
