Happy 70th Birthday Michael Gwisdek

Michael Gwisdek was born on January 14, 1942 in Berlin, Germany. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts "Ernst Busch" in Berlin. He began his carerr through exposure to various theaters, first in Chemnitz, and later at the Deutsches Theater and at the adult stage in Berlin. During his stage career he has starred in over 100 films. In recent years he has written both crime screenplays and appeared in such movies as “Good Bye, Lenin!” (2003). For his performances he has received several awards, including the 1999 Berlin Silver Bear for Best Actor in the film Night Shapes. In 2000 the Ernst Lubitsch Prize. Michael has appeared in two Euro-westerns “The Falcons’ Trail” (1967) and “White Wolves” (1968). In the late 1980s Gwisdek began working as a film director. His first directorial effort, the historical film “Treffen in Travers” (1989), brought him in 1990 at the 6th National film festival in the GDR, the prize for Best Film. Today Gwisdek lives in Berlin and has two sons, actor Robert Gwisdek and composer John Gwisdek with actress Corinna Harfouch, with whom he was married from 1985 until 2007. Since 2007 he has been married to the writer Gabriela Gwisdek.
