Remembering Klaus Manchen
Born Klaus-Joachmi Manchen on December 1, 1936 in Breslau, Germany. Klaus completed his acting training at the State Drama School in Berlin now called the School of Dramatic Arts “Ernest Busch”. He then worked from 1964-1965 at the Association of Volksbühne and the Maxim Gorki Theater where he became a fixture until 2002. Besides stage acting he appeared in both film and television productions for the GDR and DEFA including Konrad Wolf’s “Ich war neunzehn” and two Indianer films “The Long Ride from School” (1982) and “The Scout” (1983). Manchen was also the voice of Great Bear in the animated western film “Die Spur führt zum Silbersee (1989). Since 2002 he has continued to work as a freelance actor in films and on TV. Today we celebrate Klaus Manchen’s 75th birthday.
