Nello Salza is an Italian trumpet player born in Sutri, Lazio, Italy on October 16, 1963. He studied trumpet at the "Santa Cecilia" Conservatory of Music in Rome under the guidance of Leonardo Nicosia and Biagio Bartiloro, embarking on an orchestral career as first trumpet of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and then of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. He has also held the same role at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.
He has played in over 400 soundtracks, 250 of which with Ennio Morricone, with whom he has collaborated since 1984. Other collaborations include those with Nicola Piovani, Riz Ortolani, Franco Piersanti, Armando Trovajoli, Luis Bacalov, Francesco De Masi, Fiorenzo Carpi, Piero Piccioni and others.
