The first appearance of the reddish-brown PONCHO pre-Leone (September-November 1961)
The idea of a PONCHO is in the FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (February-March 1964) script and Carlo Simi's production designs clearly show detail.
Could it be in Rome or Madrid?
If the photo is in Rome, it's most likely before.
Leone would have been anxious to see what Eastwood would look like and would have wanted a photo shoot sooner than later.
