Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Louis Brody

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Louis Brody was born Ludwig M'bebe Mpessa in Douala, German Colony, Kameron on February 15, 1892. He attended the German colonial school in Douala, where he learned to speak German. It is believed that he arrived in Berlin sometime between 1907 and 1914. He reportedly worked at several odd and low-paying jobs before landing an acting role. His career began in the 1920s and lasted uninterrupted throughout the Nazi regime till his death on February 11, 1951, in Berlin.

Brody engaged also in political work in favor of Afro-Germans as part of the African Aid Organization, established by and for Afro-Germans living in Germany and was co-founder and president of the Liga zur Verteidigung der Negerrasse. In 1938 he married Erika Mandenga Diek [1916-19??] from Danzig and they had a son named Beryl Mpessa. Brody was stripped of his rights by the 1935 Reich Citizenship Law but received French citizenship. He still remained active and successful as an artist during World War II.
