[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]
Lubomír Bryg was born on October 25, 1934, in Prosimerice, Czechoslovakia. He studied singing at the State Conservatory in Prague where he graduated in 1953. After graduation he worked in Prague throughout his career at the Theater of Variety and Satire (1954-1955), the Theater of Satire (1955-1957), the ABC Theater (1957-1961) and the Black Scene (1961-1964). Then he was permanently engaged in the famous U Fleků Cabaret.
He first appeared in front of the cameras in 1955 as a patient in “Něco se tu změnilo” (Something has Changed Here). Due to his stocky build and exceptionally round face, he was used in episodic roles as waiters, managers, cooks, cashiers, salesmen, etc. but nevertheless he also played several significant supporting roles in the film, such as Private Malásek in the film “Váhavý střelec” (1956), an SS major in the war film “Maraton” (1968), Jonáš in “Lásky mezi kapkami deště” (Love Among the Raindrops) (1979), Brandejs in the film “Příhody pana Příhody” (1982) and Dušek in the children's film “Království za kytaru” (Kingdom for the Guitar) (1989). He rarely acted on television, but he can still be seen in the series “Království za kytaru” (Adventures of the Six Tramps) (1989), “Stríbrná pila” (Hope Train).
Bryg died in Prague on September 19, 1994, a month shy of his 60th birthday.
