"Zorro", the super production of Secuoya Studios with John Gertz, Andy Kaplan (KC Global Media), Sergio Pizzolante (C&T Mobs) and Jesús Torre Viera and Glenda Pacanins (NoStatusQuo Studios) as executive producers, started filming on the island of Gran Canaria on July 25.

Over the next few weeks, a team of more than 200 people, including artistic cast and technical team, will shoot the new adventures of the famous masked vigilante entirely in different locations of Las Palmas, Arucas, Gáldar, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Telde, the protected natural area of Nublo, the Caldera de Tejeda, among other places, and the Sioux City theme park. This modern adaptation of the adventures of the greatest Latin American hero of all time, set in the California of the mid-nineteenth century, has in the executive production with David Martínez, David Cotarelo and Ángela Agudo.

Directed by Javier Quintas, Miguel Ángel Vivas and José Luis Alegría, the 10-chapter series that will be available through Prime Video in the United States, Latin America and Spain, stars Miguel Bernardeau, Renata Notni, Dalia Xiuhcoatl, Emiliano Zurita, Andrés Almeida, Elia Galera, Francisco Reyes, Chacha Huang, Joel Bosqued and Peter Vives, among others.

"We have been feeling wonderful for weeks with the rehearsals and preparation of the team and the first days of filming are exceeding our expectations: the actors, the photo team, the art team, the specialists. We are also very grateful to the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the municipalities of the island and the entire Canarian team that is exceptional, "says David Martínez, Director of Fiction at Secuoya Studios.

"We are very proud to have achieved an IP as recognized as Zorro, known throughout the global scope and with followers of all generations. We are excited to have the opportunity to bring what we can consider almost as the first superhero in history to a new wave of viewers, and we will do it with a world-class international team, which has taken on this challenge with the same enthusiasm and responsibility as we have."

Set in the 1830s Los Angeles, the period production offers a modern take on the mythical character created by Johnston McCulley, adapting it for a new generation. Zorro stars Miguel Bernardeau (Elite), who gives life to the landowner Diego de la Vega and the hero of the town, in that double aspect of the protagonist. The cast, which perfectly embodies the diversity of an emerging world in which different races and nationalities try to coexist, has a large group of Mexican interpreters of the first order such as Renata Notni (La Venganza de las Juanas), Dalia Xiuhcoatl (This is not Berlin), Emiliano Zurita (No, because I fall in love) and Andrés Almeida (Y tu mamá también), among others.

The protagonist is also accompanied by performers with a long professional background on the small and big screen, such as Elia Galera (El Cid), Joel Bosqued (El Internado: Las Cumbres), Peter Vives (Supernormal), Chacha Huang (Losing the East) and Fele Martínez (La Unidad).

Zorro is the great global IP developed by the Spanish-speaking content studio. It is an updated version of the contemporary hero, symbol of justice and defender of the oppressed, a new beginning for an ancestral spirit that has occupied different identities over the centuries. Women also have an essential role to play in this story. Female characters ahead of their time and empowered, who will stand up to the masked hero or act as confidants based on their own interests.

In addition to his sense of justice, Diego de la Vega has his personal battle to become Zorro: discovering his father's killer. A vital purpose that will not make you stop before anything or anyone to discover your identity. An arduous and thorny journey in which, in addition to facing his friends and enemies, he will unmask secrets of his family that will forever change his destiny.
