Today marks the 50th anniversary of the
premier of “What Am I Doing in the Middle of the Revolution?” directed by
Sergio Corbucci and starring Vittorio Gassman, Paolo Villaggio and Riccadro
Garrone. The film tells the story of theatre director Don Albino Moncalieri
(Paolo Villaggio) and his only employee Guido Guidi (Vittorio Gassman) who are
in desperate need of money. They comply immediately when they are hired by a
certain Peppino Garibaldi , who seems to be a relative of famous Giuseppe
Garibaldi. On tour throughout Mexico they get by accident entangled in
revolutionary activities and experience the fog of war. The film grossed 1,141,887 lire on its original release.
