Who Are Those Gals? ~ Marija Crnobori

 

Marija Crnobori was born in Baniole, Istria, Austria-Hungary on October 1, 1918. She graduated from the Teachers' Vocational School in 1942, and then from the Acting Academy in Zagreb in the class of Branko Gavela . From 1941 to 1946 she performed at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, and then in Rijeka in 1946-47. In 1947 The Yugoslav Drama Theater was founded in Belgrade , so at the invitation of the first manager, Bojan Stupica , Elijah Finci moved to that theater.

She published a book of memories "World of Acting" (1991) and "Life" (2011), a collection of essays on theater written in the period from 1952 to 2004, which was selected and edited by prof. Dr. Jelena Lužina.

Her husband was theater director and actor Marko Fotez with whom she had a son director, writer and actor Aleksandar
