Gregorio Garcia Segura was born in Cartagena, Murcia, Spain on February 13, 1929. He studied composition, beginning his studies at the Conservatory of Cartagena and then continued in Madrid. He considered being a pianist but ended up opting for songwriting, film and theater and television composition.
He and his brother Alfredo Garcia Segura created numerous pieces, authored by the García Segura Brothers. Since the late 1950s, he has composed nearly two hundred Spanish film scores.
In theater he worked assiduously with the popular Lina Morgan and is the author, among others, of the well-known song “Thank You for Coming” and he put music to such popular television series at the time as ‘Pura, metallurgica’ (1975), ‘Vaya par de gemelas’ (1980), ‘Hay to Say Yes to Love (1983), ‘The Last Tram (1987) and ‘Celeste is Not a Color’ (1991).
The García Segura brothers, with their song "El telegrama”, performed by the Chilean singer Monna Bell, won the first prize in the first edition of the Benidorm International Song Festival in 1959.
