Sabino Mendez and Carlos Segarra will participate on June 17 in 'Straight to Hell' organized by the Institute of Alme-Riens and open to all lovers of rock and film in Almería. This is the third conference about Rock in the Desert and organized by their coordinators' Antonio Jesus Garcia and Javier Navarrete.
These two important guests are part of the celebration of 25 years of talent at a meeting held in Almeria motivated by the shooting of the film "Straight to Hell" (Straight to Hell) directed by Alex Cox with Joe Strummer, Elvis Costello, Courtney Love and Shane MacGowran, Pogues leader, who created in Spain during the filming the universally famous song 'Fiesta'.
A luxury program
Sabino Mendez is a writer, musician and author of some key Loquillo songs like 'Rock and Roll Star', 'Mary' and 'Cadillac Solitario', among others. At eight o'clock in the Hall of Mini-Hollywood, Mendez will be interviewed by Carles Prats, filmmaker, producer and film and music specialist. Prats is a connoisseur of Spanish-Italian westerns on which he made a great documentary, about the inescapable role of Almeria and all the great filmmakers who passed through this land, with Sergio Leone in the lead.
This interview will take place in the conference room at The Yellow Rose from eight o'clock in the evening. Following the same, at ten, with the fall of night, will be screened outside the village General Store the honored film. Directed in 1986, this film never had a commercial projection on the ground where it was born. It would not be the last time Alex Cox looks back at it, both as director and protagonist of this documentary genre that he loves.
Spatter will take place after this concert Carlos Segarra, another Spaniard with rock lineage. The rebel leader will offer his music outside the bank in the center of town. This great event is free.
