Happy 70th Birthday Bernardo Bertolucci
Bernardo Bertolucci was born on March 16, 1940 in Parma, Italy. His father Attilio was a poet, art historian and film critic. Bernardo started writing at the age of fifteen and with his father's background was able to get Bernardo a job with Piero Paolo Pasolini, whom Attilio helped get his first novel published. Pasolini hired Bernardo as an assistant for his 1961 film “Acccattone”. Sergio Leone was aware of Bertolucci's talent and asked him and Dario Argento to write the storyline for “Once Upon a Time in the West”. Bernardo would go on to direct several well known films such as “The Conformist” (1970), “Last Tango in Paris” (1972), “The Last Emperor” (1987) and “The Dreamers” (2003). At the present time Bernardo is working on several upcoming projects. Today we celebrate Bernardo Bertolucci's 70th Birthday.
