Remembering Luis Induni

Born Luigi Induni Radici on March 5, 1920 in Romano Cavanese, Italy he along with John Bartha were typecast as lawmen in the Spaghetti Western genre. Radici moved to Spain in the late 1940s and acted under stage names such as Louis Green, Luis Hinduni, Lewis Induni, Albert Lockwood, Andrew Scott but we remember him as Luis Induni. He became a Spanish citizen in 1959 and was one of the most frequently seen character actors of the Euro-western era in such films as “The Relentless Four” (1965), “Djurado” and “The Fury of Johnny Kid” (1966), “The Magnificent Texan” (1967) “Captain Apache” (1970), “The Ballad of Ben and Charlie” (1971) and “Dallas” (1973). Whenever the sheriff showed up on screen it was usually Luis Induni. He also played ranch owners and townsmen and would later appear in several Paul Naschy horror films during the 1970s. In all he appeared in nearly 200 films and TV appearances during his career. Induni died on December 31, 1979 in Barcelona, Spain. Today we remember him on what would have been his 80th birthday.

  1. According to a knowledgeable French fan, he was a soldier in the Italian army and part of a commando who tried and failed to free Mussolini at the end of the war. He then flew to Spain and started an acting career.
