50th anniversary of the premier of “A Man Called Invincible”

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the premier of “Lo chiamavano Tresette… giocava sempre col morto” (A Man Called Invincible) directed by Anthony Ascott (Giuliano Carnimeo) and starring George Hilton, Cris Huerta and Evelyn Stewart. The story goes Tresette (George Hilton), a man of peaceful disposition, constantly runs into his arch enemy Poison (Tony Norton). Tresette drifts into the town of Bad Apple and must immediately get rid of three Sicilians who mistake him for the suitor of one of their wives. In collaboration with the false Sheriff Bambi Cris Huerta), he agrees to carry a cargo of gold to Dallas. In the wagon of a traveling salesman, they transport the gold and run into a series of ambushes by outlaw gangs. In Dallas they face the risk of being hanged because the gold is nothing more than lead sprinkled with glitter. The duo escapes from jail and they disguise themselves as maharajah and his wife. They attend a masquerade ball organized by the banker McPherson Umberto D’Orsi), who has used the two as a decoy for the true destination of the gold. In fact, the precious metal is hidden in cakes and is being shipped to Mexico, but Tresette and Bambi after learning of the plan of the dishonest banker steal the gold.

The film took in 679,834 lire and ranks 77th on the all-time grossing Spaghetti western films.
