Cortijo el Sotillo is located in San José, Parque Natural
Cabo de Gata, Níjar, Almería, Spain.
It is a renovated farmhouse which dates from the 18th
century and is located in the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve in Almería, 700
meters from San José Beach. It has horseback riding facilities, outdoor
swimming pool, tennis court, indoor soccer court, playground with swings for
children and private parking.
The Cortijo El Sotillo blends with the surrounding
landscape thanks to its traditional Almerian architecture. A hotel in the
middle of nature, ideal to rest.
The location was used in both “A Fistful of Dollars”
(1964) and was called the small house where Marisol and her family lived. The
location was also seen in “Johnny Yuma” and “Day of Anger”.
The interior lobby still looks much like it did during
the filming of “A Fistful of Dollars”. The original architecture remains
although painted and modernized, you still get the feel of the original building.
