We continue our search for locations for “The Gatling
Gun”. After explaining his mission to Doc Curtis, Captain Tanner rides out to
the abandoned and boarded up Gatlin house. He manages to gain access to the
place and looks around in the dark. Finding the hidden passage that leaves to
the basement where the machine gun was kept he finds it gone but before he can
do anything else two armed men arrive. One crawls inside through a window and
when he follows Chris’s tracks to the basement sees a figure in the dark and
opens fire. It’s a only Tanner’s jacket and hat made to look like him. Tanner
shoots back through one of the holes in the board used to exhibit the Gatlin
Gun’s power. The gunman falls dead and Chris leaves through the window where he
is shot at by the second gunman. Tanner falls and plays dead while the gunman
mounts and rides off.
The location of the Gatlin house is La Pedriza
(Manzaneras El Real). The house used is the one used as the ‘Widow’s Ranch’
seen in “The Big Gundown’ and several other Euro-westerns.
