David Berry proposes to Django, who was once his friend, to help him obtain the office of governor. Knowing how David is ambitious and ruthless, Django refuses and goes on the road with a load of gold to be transported to the federal deposit. Some bandits, led by Lucas, attack the convoy, massacre the escort and kill Django’s wife. Determined to get revenge, Django becomes the head of a gang composed of men unjustly condemn to death by Lucas which he saves from hanging by impersonating the executioner. The group is made up of an Indian and a man named Garcia, who convinces the others to join them and attack a convoy laden with gold. The loss of the gold brings down the wrath and the intervention of Berry, who needed the precious booty in order to continue his power. Django falls into the hands of Lucas and Berry, but escapes, killing the first and trapping the second into admitting he was the leader.
