In 1840 the Governor of California terrorizes the region when suddenly a mysterious individual named Zorro appears and becomes the champion of the poor and the oppressed. The Governor finally arrest him and throws him in jail and, in revenge, kills Zorro’s wife. The son of Zorro is saved and raised by the hostess of an inn. Going by the name of Diego, he grows up together with Mary, the daughter of the innkeeper. They spend fifteen years together. The population of the area is still harassed by the Governor but another mysterious knight, also called Zorro, counteracts the misdeeds of the tyrant, he stops a stagecoach attacked by bandits and falls in love with Virginia de Santa Anna, the young bride of the governor. The governor organizes a trap to catch him, but Zorro, shot in the arm flees. In the inn of Mary soldiers find the clothes of Zorro and Diego, who has a deep wound in his arm, despite his protests, he is arrested. In prison he meets Juan Ortiz, who understands that it is his son Diego, whom he believed to be dead along with his mother. Diego, a few days later, he is freed because while he is in prison the exploits of Zorro continue. Even Juan Ortiz manages to escape. The governor’s marriage ceremony of with Virginia is interrupted by the Three Swords of Zorro, Diego, Maria and Juan Ortiz. The governor is finally arrested by an emissary of the federal government, but the ceremony continues, only now instead the groom is Diego.
