Maria Rosa Valenza was born on March 23, 1923 in Tunis.
She was married to producer, director, screenwriter and actor Demofilo Fidani
[1914-1994] and is the mother of actress Simone Blondell [1950- ]. She was a
painter and costume designer but also was often credited as a screenwriter and
production designer in several of her husband’s films. How much she actually
contributed is open to debate. Maria was credited under the aliases M.R. Valenza,
Maria Rosa Vitelli and Mila Valenza among others. Among her co-screenwriting
credits were “4 Came to Kill Sartana” (1969), “Dead Men Don’t Make Shadows”
(1970), and “A Fistful of Death” (1971).
Valenza died on August 21, 2007 in Rome. Today we remember Maria Rosa
Valenza on what would have been her 90th birthday.
