Happy 90th Birthday Poldo Bendandi
Leopoldo Bendandi was born on June 8, 1920 in Ravenna, Italy. He moved with his parents to Cesena. After World War II Poldo began entered the cinema accidentally in character roles. Because of his looks, big, bald, pock marked face, he is usually cast as a villain. He operated a restaurant called “Wimpys Grill” in San Bartolo Fiorenzuoila until it closed in 1963. He appeared in films directed by Vittorio De Sica, Louis Malle, Carmello Bene and Sergio Leone. His last film appearance was in 1973's "I racconti di Viterbury - Le più allegre storie del '300". Among his 8 Euro-westerns he's billed as Poldo Bendandi and pictured above as Werther in “Viva Maria!” (1965). Others include “The Fury of Johnny Kid”, “7 Magnificent Pistols” both in 1966, “Pecos Cleans Up” (1967), “The Boldest Job in the West”, “Blazing Guns”, and “Duck You Sucker” all in 1971. Today we celebrate Poldo Bendandi's 90th birthday.
