Prolific German producer, director, playwright, writer,
songwriter and actor Hark Bohm died in Hamburg, Germany on November 14th
at the age of 86. Bohm was the older brother of actor Marquard Bohm [1941-2006].
Böhm was born in Othmarschen, Hamburg, German on May 18, 1939, and became known above all for productions such as "Nordsee ist
Mordsee" (1976), "Moritz, lieber Moritz" (1978) or
"Yasemin" (1988). For the latter film, he received the Federal Film
Award in Gold. For decades, Bohm was considered one of the defining voices of
German auteur and up-and-coming cinema. His first marriage was to
teacher/terrorist Angela Luther [1940-?] in the 1960s. After their divorce he married
producer, costume designer, actress Natalia Bowakow and adopted her children Lili
Bohm (Liliana Bohm) [1941- ], producer, actor Dschingis Bowakow [1961- ], cameraman, actor David Bohm and actor
Uwe Bohm (Uwe Enkelmann) [1962-2022]. The couple also adopted two children.
Bohm produced, wrote and directed one Euro-western “Chetan, Indian Boy” (1972)
which stared his brother Marquard and featured his adopted son Dschingis
Bowakov as Chetan and also had an appearance by Bembi. Hark was the founding
director of the Hamburg University Film School.
