Lyudmila Petrovna Senchina was born in Kudryavtsy, Nikolaevskaya oblast, Ukrainskaya U.S.S.R. on December 13, 1950. She was the daughter of a Moldavian gypsy and dreamed about the conservatory, as princesses dream of a prince from a fairy tale. In August 1966, when Lyudmila went to Leningrad to apply to the music school at the conservatory. The girl already saw herself as a student of the faculty of musical comedy, but it turned out that the applicant was late, the acceptance of documents was over. Lyudmila despaired. Her dream was shattered. She instead from 1966 to 1970 studied singing at Rimskiy-Korsakov musical college of Leningrad Conservatory. From 1969 to 1974 she was a singer with the Musical Comedy Theatre in Leningrad.
Her peak of fame was from 1970-1980. In 1971, a lyrical melody written by the composer Tsvetkov was heard on all radios and television screens. The words of Ilya Reznik were repeated by every girl and woman dreaming of happiness - about a magical dream and a prince, about a fabulous ball and 48 conductors, and about an amazing morning, where the heroine of the song found glass shoes on the window.
Senchina also acted in several movies. Her most famous film was “Armed and Dangerous” (Russian: Вооружён и очень опасен), in which she played the lead female role. She also sang several songs such as Pesnya o chudesnom kraye”, “Poprobuyte zabytsya”, “Vooruzhyon I ochen opasen”.
Senchina died on January 25, 2018, in a hospital in St. Petersburg after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
