Little Known Spaghetti Western actors ~ Anthony Bishop

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Anthony Bishop was born on September 29, 1971, in South Africa. He’s best known for his starring role as Prospero Brand in the M-Net Original Productions drama series ‘Jacob's Cross’, from 2007-2012. He also starred as Michael in the SABC3 drama series ‘Shado's’. He had a recurring role in the medical series ‘Hillside’, was a series regular in ‘Homelands’ and played a guest role in ‘The Adventures of Sinbad’, a Canadian series which was filmed in Ontario and Cape Town, South Africa.

Bishop’s film credits include roles in “Someone to Watch Over Me” (1987), “Operation Delta Force 5: Random Fire” (1999), “Merlin: The Return” (1999), “Styx” (2001), “Beserker” (2001) and “Askari” (2001) and his only Euro-western “Hooded Angels” (2000) appearing as a member of the militia.

In theatre, Bishop has had roles such plays as “Complete Works of William Shakespeare”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “'Tis A Pity She’s A Whore”, “Phaedra” and “The Tempest”.

He played the role of villainous Boy Bailey in the SABC2 mini-series “Land of Thirst”, from January to February 2008. Lately he’s turned his talents to voice acting and can be heard on “Jock the Hero Dog” (2011) as George.

Anthony died in Johannesburg, South Africa as the result of a car accident on October 21, 2019. He had just turned 48 the month before.
