Spaghetti Western locations Then and Now – “Fistful of Dollars”

In the opening scene in “Fistful of Dollars” a stranger stops to get a drink of water at a well. He observes a young boy running from one house to another and climbing in through a window. Almost immediately the stranger sees the boy being kicked out of that house and a fat Mexican shoots at the boy’s feet while telling him to stay out as the boy runs back to the house he came from.

This scene was shot in San Juan, Almeria, Spain at what is now called Cortijo El Sotillo and is a luxury hotel.
