Santa Maria Church in Turrillas, Spain was used for the
parable scene in “For a Few Dollars More”. The scene was in complete disrepair
and abandoned. Sergio Leone was allowed to use the church for the interior
scenes and in return paid the parish enough money for them to completely repair
the building and reopen it. Since then Leone has been known to the locals and
the parishioners of Santa Maria as Saint Sergio.
