Who Are Those Singers & Musicians ~ Curro Savoy

Francisco Rodríguez Muñoz was born in Andújar, Jaén, Spain in 1948. He’s known professionally as Curro Savoy or Kurt Savoy. He is a Spanish musician specializing in whistling who lives currently in France since 1981.

His mother worked selling candies, and his father was a construction worker. He started his professional career in 1959 in Madrid when Tico Medina and Yale presented him in a TV show. He later made a record with Saef Cetra and took part in several radio programs.

He is well known in Europe for his whistling cover versions of Spaghetti westerns, especially those of Ennio Morricone and Alessandro Alessandroni. Savoy’s unique style is he whistles while inhaling instead of the normal exhaling.

He became the president of an international society of whistlers, and he founded another one, Siffleurs du Monde.

In 1972 he married bullfighter Clarita Montes, with whom he met in Casa de Campo and they have two children, Patricia and David.
