September 6th the Mequinenza International Film Festival was held, where the short film “Dos Balas para el Diablo”, directed by Manuel Olaya from Almansa, starring Quique Durio, Pedro López, Laura Felices, and Antonio Olaya, with the artistic and technical team from Almería, Alicante, and Almansa, filmed in the town of MiniHollywood Oasys, received the award for best western and the audience award.
After suffering the death of his daughter, Cavendish, who apparently works as a barber in the turbulent town of Dudson City, meets a rude and quarrelsome man who arrives at his establishment. Cavendish plays along with him until he reaches an unexpected outcome. Enrique Durio, Pedro López, Laura Felices, and Antonio Olaya star in this short film in which director Manuel Olaya revives the essence of the classic western, supported by a meticulous production design along with the genre's most iconic settings.
The lead actor, Enrique Durio, will only live to avenge his daughter's death, vowing that those responsible will die by gunfire.
The action in this short film takes place on the Oasys MiniHollywood film sets, with the main sequence being in the western barbershop, which was decorated with all kinds of utensils available at the time.
A place where not only the barber worked, but also the dentist, and it was even used for hot baths for outsiders. The film's execution moves away from the traditional spaghetti western genre and is more grounded in the great American westerns directed by John Ford.
It's worth noting that the soundtrack is by Almería-born
composer David Miralles, which enhances the film's epic drama.
