Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ David Ashton

 [These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

David Ashton was born David Scott on November 10, 1941 in Greenock, Scotland. He started his professional career at Worcester Repertory theatre, the Ipswich Rep, the Orange Tree Theatre, London, the Liverpool Playhouse, the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, London, the Ambassadors Theatre, the Greenwich Theatre and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh.

Besides his theater career he’s also appeared in a wide variety of film, television and radio roles. David has also developed a parallel career as a writer of fiction, film and television screenplays and plays for theatre and radio.

Ashton has also taught, directed and lectured at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

David was married to actress Jonina Scott (Jónína Margrét Ólafsdóttir) [1943- ] and he is the father of three children.

His only European western role was as a rider in 1965’s “Carry on Cowboy”.

  1. It's funny how you say that David Ashton was born as David Scott because one time I got a phone call from somebody asking for a Mr. David Scott. They thought I was him and decided to ask if I WAS him. My mother had to tell the individual that I wasn't but it was still a funny experience anyway. I shoulda just went along with and told them that I WAS David Scott. I could use that as a stage name if I ever get into serious acting.
