Today marks the 50th anniversary of the
premier of “On the Third Day Arrived the Crow” directed by Gianni Crea and
starring Lincoln Tate, William Berger, Fiorella Mannoia,Lorenzo Fineschi and
Richard Melvill. The film tells the story of The Connelly brothers (Lincoln
Tate, Fiorella Mannoia and Lorenzo Fineschi) who are looking for a gunman named
‘The Crow’ (William Berger), “the meanest son-of-a-bitch this side of the Rio
Grande “and who is responsible for killing their father. While looking for him,
they find a load of gold which turns out not to be a load of gold and are
confronted with bandits who want their gold back. They meet a man with a hoard
of mentally deranged sons and must face a bad guy who wants to kill them. After
three days the crow still hasn't arrived. Finally arriving in town is a
black-clad figure who’s promptly killed by the Connelly brothers.

I've seen the film and it was great. Dino Strano, the Italian-American actor going by the name Dean Stratford in this film, did a fantastic job of playing Jack Ryan, the Crow's brother. At the end of the movie, the townspeople find out who Jack is and then chase him and kill him offscreen while our heroes ride off into the sunset, minus Tornado who was killed while trying to stand up to the Crow. This film came out only a year after Lincoln Tate had an uncredited cameo role as himself alongside Gordon Mitchell and Peter Martell in the Robert Woods Spaghetti Western, "Savage Guns" in which Dino Strano played the main villain Mash Flannigan/Donovan. Great film, great cast, great music, and most importantly, great plot. This film deserves a remake.
