Henri Octave Marie Bernascon was born in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France on September 19, 1897. He served in the French infantry in 1917. Towards the end of the 1950s Arius could be seen in larger and more substantive supporting roles. Arius died in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France on May 7, 1968. His son was actor and animator Frédéric Gérard (Gérard Bernascon) [1932-2022].
Arius appeared in only one Euro-western as a grocer in the 1958 French film western musical “Texas Serenade” starring Bourvil and Louis Mariano.
