Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Juan Arévalo

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Juan Antonio Arévalo was a Spanish filmmaker whose presence in the Spanish film industry goes back to the early 1960s. He was an actor in 1961’s “Hola, muchacho” and would go on to appear in 12 other films ending in 1970. During this time he devoted the bulk of his career to directing. First as an assistant director beginning in 1969 and continuing until 1979. He then became a director ending in 2000. He appeared in two “Zorro” films in 1962 as the character Fernando and was an assistant director on 1975’s “The Great Adventure”.

I can find no biographical information on him.

AREVALO, Juan Antonio (aka Juan A. Arevalo, Juan Antonio Arevalo, J.A. Arévalo, Juan A. Arévalo, Juan Antº Arévalo) (Juan Antonio Arévalo) – director, assistant director, film actor.

Shadow of Zorro – 1962 (Fernando)

Zorro the Avenger – 1962 (Fernando)

  1. My guess is that Juan Antonio Arevalo was born on March 11, 1928 in Madrid, Spain, and died on September 24, 1975, in Rome, Italy of a heart attack at age 47. He played Fernando in two Zorro films and was responsible for the editing on the film, 'Doctor Zhivago" from 1964. He might have been married to actress Martha Delgado-Silva at one time or another and owned his own studio. I assume he had a son named Andre Silva Delgado-Arevalo and that he was the best man at Aldo Sambrell's wedding along with Sergio Leone and Luis Barboo. Could be true, I don't know. I'll let you decide. Hope this helps.
