Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Zeki Alpan

 [These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Zeki Alpan was a Turkish director, writer, makeup artist and film actor born in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Ottoman Empire in 1908. He studied at Kadıköy Darüleytam, Menba-i İrfan and Gülşen-i Maarif. In 1926, he started his artistic career as a theater actor. He appeared on stage in various ensembles. In 1928, he founded a traveling theater company in his name. He worked in folk operettas, Ses and Muammer Karaca Theater. He took the stage in revues at Maksim Casino. He started acting in movies in 1933.

He appeared in over 175 films and television series from 1933 until his final appearance in 1991. He also directed seven films and wrote screenplays for half a dozen films and was also an accomplished makeup artist who worked in that department on close to twenty films. He was married to Nazmiye Alpan [1923-1985].

Zeki appeared in several Turkish westerns but only one Euro-western in a small role as a stagecoach passenger in 1972’s “Küçük Kovboy” (Cowboy Kid) starring Cüneyt Arkin and Pascale Petit.
