Jean Marie Thérésius Pierre Amato was born in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, France on January 2, 1926. He was a theater, film, radio, television and voice actor Jean-Marie Amato lends his voice to many characters in radio dramas, including the great series ‘Signé Furax’ by Pierre Dac and Francis Blanche, of which he is the voice of the title role (Edmond Furax) and other characters (Asti Spumante...). He is first and foremost a theater actor. His career was short, but he played alongside Louis De Funès, then a young actor. Amato appeared in 20 films from 1951 to 1961. His only appearance in a Euro-western was a Tapis Vert a henchman of villain Walter Black in 1956’s “Fernand Cowboy” starring Fernand Raynaud.
Amato ended his life in his Parisian apartment not as a result of an alcoholic party as falsely stated in Pierre Dac's biography, Mon maître sixty-trois.
