Who Are Those Gals? ~ Gemma Cuervo


Gemma Cuervo Igartua was born in Barcelona, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain on June 22, 1936. She started her career in the Teatro Español Universitario and made her professional debut with Adolfo Marsillach in Harvey. She worked later in the José Tamayo's Cía. Lope de Vega, and in 1969 her husband Fernando Guillén (Fernando Gallego Guillén) [1932–2013] and she created their own theatre company, where they performanced in several towns in Spain and in other countries. She made her film debut in 1956’s “La vida es maravillosa”. Her best known works are her roles in the TV programs ‘Estudio 1’, ‘Médico de familia’ and ‘Aquí no hay quien viva’. She also worked in ‘La que se avecina’ as María Teresa Valverde until the fourth season in 2010. In all she’s appeared in over 80 films and TV series.

She was married to Guillén from 1960 till his death in 2013. They had three children Natalia, Fernando and Cayetana.
