Spaghetti Western Trivia ~ Federico Boido poet, artist

Federico Boido went by the stage name of Rick Boyd and he’s familiar to most of us as the badass gunman of dozens of Spaghetti westerns. It’s hard to imagine that in his off time and after he retired that he was a painter and poet. Yet John Dulaney says he remembers Rick selling much of his artwork to tourists visiting Rome.

  1. Prior to his death from cardiac arrest in Rome on October 7, 2014, at age 76, Rick Boyd was an Italian actor, stuntman, weapons master, poet, and artist. He had many other hobbies such as gardening, cooking, writing songs, and putting puzzles together. His wife is never mentioned on Wikipedia or anywhere else but I DO believe he was married. From 1955 to 2005, he starred in a total of 500 films, most of them being Spaghetti Westerns. He sold his artwork on the streets of Rome to tourists who would buy it. He always signed his paintings under his childhood nickname, "Chico". Whenever you were in Rome looking for some great artwork, one of his friends would say, "You should buy from Chico. He's the best!" Rick Boyd, real name Federico Boido, AKA "Chico" truly was a character. If not for the many deaths in his Spaghetti Westerns, he is well known for the smile he put on people's faces throughout his personal life. He was born on January 8, 1938, in Novi Ligure, Piedmont, Italy, and died in Ostia, Rome, Italy, on October 7, 2014, from cardiac arrest at age 76. Gone but not forgotten. Rick Boyd. More than just a movie bad guy.
