Anita Ekberg, who became an international symbol of lush
beauty and unbridled sensuality in the 1960 Federico Fellini film “La Dolce
Vita,” died Sunday morning January 11, 2015 in Rocca di Papa, Rome, Lazio, Italy after a long illness. She was 83. Born Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg September 9, 1931 in Malmö, Skåne län, Sweden, she appeared in three Euro-westerns “Heads
or Tails” (1969) with John Ericson, “The Long Ride of Vengeance” (1972) with
Richard Harrison and “Valley of the Dancing Widows” (1974) where her scenes
were later cut. She was also married to two Euro-western actors Anthony Steel
(1956-1959) and Rik Van Nutter (1963-1975).
