Remembering Adriano Bolzoni


Adriano Bolzoni was born on April 14, 1919 in Cremona, Lombardy, Italy. Bolzoni started his career as a journalist, being a war correspondent at the front during World War II. Later, he became director of Reporter, a right-wing weekly magazine published between 1959 and 1960 which is best remembered for having Pier Paolo Pasolini as a film critic. In the 1960s he became editor of the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
 
Bolzoni entered the cinema industry in 1948, collaborating on the screenplay of the adventure film “I contrabbandieri del mare”, directed by Roberto Bianchi Montero; later he was a prolific screenwriter, arousing some fame with fifteen successful spaghetti westerns and poliziotteschi. He was also an occasional director of films and documentaries and an essayist.
 
Bolzoni was a screenwriter on over a dozen Euro-westerns. He share writing credits on “Fistful of Dollars” (1964) and also wrote screenplays for “Minnesota Clay” (1964), “My Name is Pecos”, “Ringo and His Golden Pistol” (both 1966), “The Mercenary” (1968), “Sonny & Jed” (1972) and “Silver Saddle” (1977).
 
He died in Rome, Italy sometime in 2005.
 
Today we remember Adriano Bolzoni on what would have been his 95th birthday.
