Little Known Spaghetti Western Actors ~ Elise Aulinger

 [These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Elise Aulinger was a German stage, radio and film and actress born in Munich on December 11, 1881. She made her acting debut in 1901 at the Münchner Volkstheater, where she soon became a fixed great figure, among others she acted in plays by Ludwig Thoma. Finally, the Münchner Kammerspiele became her second home, and she entertained the public with impressive roles which ranged from comedies to classic plays. From 1925 to 1945, she was regularly heard on local radio ("Deutsche Stunde in Bayern"). On stage from 1903 (in Anzengruber's "Der Meineidbauer") and often with the Volkstheater in Munich. In films from 1921, invariably as sagacious, down-to-earth farmers, maids, midwives or mothers.

Elise was married to the author Max Sommer alias Max Ferner.[1881-1940]. They had a son actor Fritz Aulinger [1912-1942]. She is the aunt of author Sigi Sommer [1914-1996].

Her only Euro-western was as Mrs. Dübol in 1936’s “The Emperor of California” starring Luis Trenker.

  1. Elise Aulinger was still 83 years old when she died. She died on Abe Lincoln's birthday, February 12th. She looks like she could be your granny. In fact, she's actually old enough to be your granny! Wow, what a marvelous actress. She must have been legendary.
