These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be gven and anything that you can add would be appreciated.
Pierre Antonio Alcover was a French stage and film actor. Born in Châtellerault, Vienne, France on March 14, 1893, he starred in 40 films between 1918 and 1943. In 1920 he starred in the film “Champi-Tortu”. One of his most notable performances was in Marcel L'Herbier's 1928 film “L'Argent”, as the corrupt banker Saccard.
With a huge physique, he began at Fort des Halles then decided to do theater and debuted at the Théâtre de l'Odéon in 1916. Winning first prize at the Conservatoire, Alcover became a resident at the Comédie-Française in 1917 and played in many plays until his departure in 1920. Beginning in the silent era to the beginnings of the talkies he made about fifteen films with some of the most illustrious directors of his time.
In 1939, Alcover married actress Gabrielle Colonna-Romano [1888-1981]. Their granddaughter, Catherine Alcover (Catherine Ouzilleau) [1946- ], is also an actress.
