This bridge was part of the narrow-gauge railway that
connected the portcity of Alhamilla. The railway was built by the American W.D.
Marvel in 1875 and remained in operation until November 17, 1927, when the
mines were closed. It also served as passenger transport to the nearby establishment
(Balneario de Sierra Alhamilla). The train passed through the Pechina and Huereal
stations and four small bridges of the old railway line (five kilometers) with
the embankments, the pillars, the buttresses and the imposing bridge bases,
like that of El Espinzao (built above the rambla de El Espinazo), used in a
sequence of “The Savage Guns” (1962). “Bullets Don’t Argue” (1964) (when Rod
Cameron meets the brother and sister owners of the ranch); “The Avenger”
(1966). This bridge is also used in the film “Time to Kill (1989), by Giuliano
Montaldo, with Nicholas Cage, Ricky Tognazzi, Giancarlo Giannini, set during
the Ethiopian War (1935-1936) and also shot on the dirt road that leads from
Mini Hollywood to the Sierra Alhamilla (ac cess to the Coltivi).
