Continuing with locations for “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Angel Eyes is looking for Bill Carson and stops at a Confederate camp and hospital. This scene was deleted from the original U.S. release of the film but was recently restored in the Collectors DVD version released a few years ago. He is told by the Sergeant played by Victor Israel that if Carson has been captured he'll be taken to Betterville. The location of the Confederate camp is the Castillo de San Ramon fortress used by the Spaniards as an army location centuries ago. The fortress is now a private home and although I was able to enter the location during it's reconstruction I've been told the owner does not allow uninvited guests to enter the property. In front of this fortress, about 50 yards, is the Mediterranean Sea. Also on the same road to this location you will pass the exterior location of the church used as the meeting place of El Indio's gang in “For a Few Dollars More” and the small Spanish fortress used as a prison where Lee Van Cleef was released in the beginning of “Death Rides a Horse”.
