[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]
Rudolf Deyl Jr. was born on July 6, 1912, in Prague, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary. Several family members were involved in acting - father, mother and older sister. Rudolf appeared in front of the cameras as a seven-year-old. His parents later tried to dissuade him from this profession but were in vain.
At the age of 17, he started working in the theater and a few years later he made his first film, “The Sin of Youth”. Later he appeared in films such as “Golden Bottom”, “The Circus Will Be!”, “Tank Brigade”, “Angel in the Mountains”, “Playing with the Devil”, “The Good Soldier Švejk”, “Dařbuján” and “Pandrhola, Ikarie” “XB 1”, “Lemonade Joe or Horse Opera”, “A Star Called Wormwood”, “A Night at Karlštejn”, and “Lucerna”.
Deyl's career was tragically cut short when it was said he suffered a fatal heart attack on November 21, 1967, at age 55, while filming his intended role as King Dobromysl in the fairy tale “Šíleně smutná princezna” (1968); only a brief distant shot of him remains in the final film, with the part recast to Bohuš Záhorský due to superstitions among other actors. Actually, he had been suffering from bone cancer.
“Pancho se žení” (Pancho’s Wedding) as the hotel clerk in 1946 and “Limonádový Joe aneb Konská opera” (Lemonade Joe) as Doug Badman in 1964
