Little Known Spaghetti Western actors ~ Iancu Caracota

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Iancu Caracota Was born in Constana, Romania on March 31, 1953. He appeared in eight films between 1978 and 1987. After his acting career Iancu began working in development companies where he owned interest in several large companies who held government contracts. He also became an apartment landlord.

He was recruited by the Securitate with the conspiratorial names "Fane" and "Fătu", with the mission of spying on foreign tourists in the Mamaia resort. Caracotă was prefect of Dâmbovița County, his companies having several contracts with the state.

In 2016 he ran for a position as Romanian senator and was elected as a member of the parliamentary friendship groups with the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the French Republic-Senate.

Iancu Caracota’s only Euro-western was “Pruncul, petrolul si Ardelinii” (The Oil, the Baby and the Transylvanians) in 1979.
