If you look closely at the two photographs you will see that Rada Rassimov's makeup is different in each.
The first takes place after he she has been dumped unceremoniously in the middle of the street by a wagon full of soldiers.
She clearly has a gash across her forehead.
This scene was shot on the El Paso set in Tabernas, Almeria, Spain in the summer of 1966.
In Joe Millard's novelization of the film he used the full script to flesh out his book.
He explains that one of the drunken soldiers had slashered her as he tried to scalp her.
Yikes!
This scene was shot weeks before on a soundstage most likely in Rome.
The slashing appears to have been an afterthought that was added while the crew was setting up the script's previous street scene in Spain.
When the mistake had been later noticed the production had wrapped and it was figured that in the darkness of a theater that no one would notice.
