Little Known Spaghetti Western actors ~ Paco de Lucia

[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]

Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gómez was born in Algeciras, Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain on December 21, 1947. The son of flamenco guitarist Antonio Sanchez [1908-1994] and brother of a flamenco guitarist, Ramón de Algeciras [1928-2009], Francisco using the stage name Paco de Lucia he was a producer, composer, musician, film actor. He was a leading proponent of the new flamenco style and one of the first flamenco guitarists to branch into classical and jazz. Richard Chapman and Eric Clapton, authors of Guitar: Music, History, Players, describe de Lucía as a "titanic figure in the world of flamenco guitar", and Dennis Koster, author of Guitar Atlas, Flamenco, has referred to de Lucía as "one of history's greatest guitarists.

He also worked on films by Spanish director Carlos Saura, notably appearing in his 1983 version of “Carmen”, which won a UK Bafta award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1985.

Paco de Lucia died from a heart attack in Cancun, Juarez, Mexico on February 26, 2014. He was 66.

A post-mortem documentary based on his life, titled Paco de Lucía: La búsqueda, was released on 24 October 2014.

Paco appeared in one Spaghetti western as the guitarist on the veranda in 1971’s “Hannie Caulder” starring Raquel Welch and Robert Culp.
