American born British actor, director, voice artist and writer
William Roberts died in London, England earlier this month. He was 81. Born on
October 18, 1943, in Roseburg, Oregon. He studied theatre arts at Humboldt
State College and came to Britain initially to do a diploma in drama at
Manchester University. He married journalist Nicolette Roberts in 1964, and
they formed two theater companies. The couple divorced in 1980. Towards the end
of his life, he turned to writing fiction and biography under the name WE
Roberts. His last work was a biography of the actor Marisa Pavan, The Quiet
Twin (2025). Roberts appeared as Grayling in the 2003 Euro-western “Cold
Mountain” starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renée Zellweger.
