Today marks the 50th anniversary of the film
premier of “Carambola”. Producer Manolo Bolognini who produced “Django” decided
to cash in on the Trinity craze and produced a series of films starring Michael
Coby (Antonio Cantafora) and Paul Smith who were clones of Terence Hill and Bud
Spencer. The first of these was “Carambola” a western. It tells the story of Coby
an ex-soldier and billiard champion and his friend Len Rothman who accept the
sum of $50,000 dollars to investigate the trafficking of arms across the
Mexican border. However, the film takes a twist when the pair come across a
new, revolutionary revolver. This film was followed by a sequel “The Crazy
Adventures of Len and Coby”. After Bud Spencer turned down the role of Bluto in
Robin Williams 1980 movie “Popeye” Paul Smith was offered and accepted the
rôle.

Hi Tom , i wanted to ask about the actor Aurelio Angelucci. One western website says that he was born on August 12, 1922 and died in 2010 , another says that he was born in 1934 and died in 2019. How is it really ?
ReplyDeleteAngelucci has always been a controversial subject as many people don't think he is the character actor called 'Big Beard'. This is the information I have on him. ANGELUCCI, Elio (Aurelio Angelucci) [1934 Forli, Italy – 11/10/2019, Forli, Italy] – theater, film actor founded the Cinecircolo del Gallo theater company. I welcome any information about him to set the record straight.
ReplyDeleteYes,i found that Aurelio Angelucci was born on 10/13/1934 in Forly in Italy and died on 10.11.2019. Then maybe the character Big Beard, whom we suspect to be Aurelio Angelucci, was born on 08.12.1922 and died in 2010,after all, it is written in this western website Tomai.Even a picture of Elio Angelucci pinned?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are correct. Always difficult to say when two actors have the same name and most of the time no pictures of them in their prime are shown or credits. Thanks for the information.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a link to the Tomai site? Thanks.
