French actor, composer and singer Jean Sarrus died in Blesle, Haute-Loire, France on February 19th.
He was 79. Born Jean Roger Sarrus in Puteaux, Île-de-Paris, France on May 11, 1945. After being
one of the bass players for Ronnie Bird and Dick Rivers, Sarrus joined the
group Les Problemes, where he played bass guitar. The group that became Les
Charlots which became very popular in the 1970s and starred in several comedy
films that were among the biggest commercial successes of French cinema of that
decade. Sarrus played himself in the 1969 TV Euro-western ‘The Man Who Came
from Cher’. He and along with the Les Charlots sang “Berry Blues”.
