José María Blanco Martínez was born in Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain in 1935. He appeared as an actor in over 135 films and TV series between 1963 and 2004. He also directed three films and wrote screenplays for three films.
Blanco was trained at the Barcelona Theatre Institute, the School of Actors (Barcelona) and the Liceu Conservatory, José María Blanco began his career in radio were followed by 19 jobs in theater, among his various activities is also that of having directed dubbing.
In 2012 he was nominated for the Gaudí Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Open 24 h” by Carles Torras. He was awarded Best Actor for his appearance in “La otra cena” (The Other Supper). He has also won at the 2015 Southampton International Film Festival the Award for Best Editing of a Short Film with the film "Con Quién Sueña Berta", directed by Fco. Gómez Pinteño.
José María Blanco has appeared in three Spaghetti westerns: “Sartana non perdona” (Sonora) in 1968, “Descenso al infierno” (Descent into Hell) in 2012 as the old man and in 2015 he played the sheriff in “La primera Piedra”.
